About this course
When we think ‘contamination’ our first thought will often be of microbiological contamination – but in the manufacture of non-sterile products that may be only one of our problems (and, sometimes, not the most important). To achieve contamination control, we need to think contamination avoidance. We need to manage our facilities, our equipment, our processes and our products with risk-based understanding. Maybe it’s a microbiological challenge, maybe it’s the last product you manufactured in that facility, room or equipment. By the end of this GMP Workshop you will have the confidence to…
- Consider the contamination impact of the design of your facility, equipment, process or product mix
- Understand the significance of potential contaminants (including microorganisms) and make sound, risk-based judgements on contamination avoidance
- Establish and document a sound contamination control programme, with evidence of performance
Course outline
This is a two day workshop incorporating teaching, working groups and facilitated discussion as follows:
- Contamination, cross-contamination and the potential sources of each – understanding and managing contamination risks
- Facility design for contamination avoidance and contamination control
- Contamination avoidance by process and equipment design
- Segregation by time and procedure – including campaign manufacture
- Cleaning and cleaning validation based on risk
- Contamination control – demonstrating and managing performance
