An engineer by profession, Alan has worked with sterilisers in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and healthcare industries since 1978 and has provided expert consultancy on sterilisation technology - from equipment and system design to validation, maintenance and troubleshooting - since 1989. He is registered by the UK Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management as an 'Authorised Person (Sterilisers)'.

Alan's knowledge and experience of autoclaves, SIP systems and dry heat sterilisers is encyclopaedic and he also has extensive experience of design and qualification of sterilisation systems for equipment such as freeze driers and equipment for monitoring of temperature/humidity sensitive environments, stability rooms, incubators, cold storage areas, warehouses etc.

Alan is a committed Christian and, when not attending to his own consultancy or working with David Begg Associates, he devotes much of his time to his religion and to missionary work on a worldwide basis.
