A microbiologist by training, Bob gained his first degree and PhD from the University of Birmingham before spending several years in postdoctoral research.

Bob has extensive, specialist experience in biologicals and biotech manufacture, gained from many years in Research & Development, Quality Control and Production management posts, culminating in the post of Quality Assurance Manager at the UK's largest biologicals manufacturing site.

He has broad experience in the manufacture and control of both terminally sterilised and aseptically prepared sterile pharmaceuticals, including ophthalmic products, lyophilised products and pre-filled syringes. Since joining David Begg Associates in 1990, Bob has specialised in providing auditing, consultancy and training to manufacturers of biologicals, biotech products and sterile products.

Bob also has a particular expertise in product development and the application of GMP to the manufacture and control of clinical trial materials.

Bob is eligible to act as a Qualified Person and is a former QP assessor for the Institute of Biology.

When not at work, Bob has a passion for skiing, road running, modern jazz and Manchester United Football Club.
