Francesco started his career in laboratory work (both commercial and pharmacology research) and then moved to management of a laboratory function for the Istituto di Ricerche Cesare, Serono, working with in vivo bioassays, cell based bioassays and microbiological assays.
While working at MerckSerono as the Microbiology and Biology Director of the Quality Control Centre of Expertise, he was also the Team Leader of the Microbiology and Biology Harmonisation Team. This involved the co-ordination of teams of Microbiologists and Biologists from the different sites and companies, with the aim of defining and harmonising quality control methods.
Francesco participates in many international scientific congresses and courses in immunology, cell biology and microbiology. He is also author/co-author of various publications and holds three patents.
