David was trained as a Chemist and Physicist at Sunderland University and he obtained an external degree from the University of London.

He has extensive experience of all aspects of the manufacture of synthetic organic chemicals, especially Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (APIs), including APIs for all phases of Clinical Trials, small (laboratory) scale, Pilot Plant, and scale-up to commercial production in both dedicated and multi-purpose facilities.

David has broad API quality management experience, which culminated in the position of Head of Quality at Chirex (formerly Sterling Winthrop), where he had total responsibility for Analytical R&D, Quality Control, Good Manufacturing Practices, Regulatory Affairs, and Quality Assurance.

He has direct experience and knowledge of API regulatory issues and GMP guidelines, especially in the EU and US, and the application of ISO 9000 quality management systems.

David joined David Begg Associates in 1999 as our primary API consultant. He is eligible to act as a QP.

David is an active Christian. He is a Bible teacher and preacher and is an instructor for a Bible correspondence school.
