Graham graduated with honours in chemistry from the University of Hull and subsequently gained a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry from the University of London.
In a career spanning nearly 40 years in the industry, Graham started work in the Research and Development Laboratories of Parke-Davis. Prior to joining Cooper-Vision as Group Quality Assurance Manager, he spent 13 years at Upjohn in various positions in development, manufacturing and quality assurance. He then acted as Quality Assurance Director for Syntex before becoming Factory Director and then Director of European Manufacturing Support. Following the takeover of Syntex by Roche he was appointed Quality Assurance Director for Roche Products at Welwyn, from which job he retired in 1998. Since that date Graham has worked part-time as a consultant.
Graham has audited all over the world covering small and large plants, sub-contractors, warehouses, API plants and due diligence audits. He has extensive experience in the application of GMPs to both clinical trials and pharmaceutical products.
He is a past Chairman of the Royal Society of Chemistry's Qualified Person Panel of Assessors and was actively involved in the revision of the Study Guide and Code of Practice. He was Treasurer of the Pharmaceutical Quality Group for over 15 years and is a committee member of the British Pharmacopoeia Expert Advisory Group PCY Pharmacy. He is also an expert committee member of the St Mary's Hospital Paddington, London Research Ethics Committee.
He is married with two daughters and two granddaughters. Outside interests are Brentford football club and regular visits to the theatre and art galleries.
